Matters of the Heart

Thinking about the all encompassing dopamine filled rush of falling in love these deep emotions are overwhelming, infinite, like the metaphorical comparison poet Emily Dickinson brings to describe love. It flows freely, vulnerably, immensely. She compares this to a river flowing into the Sea where she asks the sea to take her.
I create the centre heart by transforming drawings of other works that bring earth and sky and water together. The butterflies in blues depict the water of Emily’s river flowing.
Her poem is written on the back of the painting.‘ here are a few lines..
‘My river runs to thee, blue Sea,
Wilt thou welcome me?”

Intense emotions exist in romantic love and friendships. You can feel like you're transported or at times colliding into another world.
The visuals depict this idea of seeing all the possibilities. Though in that process remaining who you are can bring solutions that make sense for all.

A life filled with meaning and purpose is where lives the richest life. I bring the warm colours and a feeling of movement like a dance in the visual language, like the radiance of sunshine, a dance of the suns rays touch all with a golden view.

Purple signifies many things and the meaning I reach for here is the spiritual, in aura this colour connects to a higher spiritual development. It’s the kind of energy we can choose to bring wherever we go if we keep learning and doing the work.

Heartstrings

Missing my father and I let the memories flow, mixed feelings of heartache yet comfort from the beautiful memories.
The imagery has a sense of strings like the harp given his love of music and tears from reflecting. The colours of greens and blues are a nod to the sea near where he lived and where some of his ashes were shared..
The quote below will be on the back of the work.
“Tis better to have loved and lost,
Then never to have loved at all.”
Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Faith. ( 1 of 4 -Faith, Hope, Love and Insight)
“Faith, hope, love, and insight, are the highest achievements of human effort. They are found-given- by human experience.”
Carl Jung
It gives me pause to think about what he says here and how profound the meaning, one cannot buy this of highest achievement, it is earned through these things he has described. How beautiful a path he lays out, it is about a way of living.
